About Decorate for a difference
Over the past few years a team of young Canberrans have worked with local businesses, trades and the community to build the raize the roof charity house in Bonner, ACT.
The house is due to be auctioned on Saturday 20 October 2018 by Jason Roses of Luton Properties Gungahlin.
We called on the Canberra public for their help to style the home, ready to put it up for sale.
In one weekend, on 18 August 2018, five teams will compete to decorate zones of the house and turn it into a stylish home. The Canberra public and our guests judges will decide which zone wins, with the winner/s taking home a $1500 IKEA voucher prize.
Teams will be given a brief to stick to, time limitations and will have to put their creative caps on!
Entrants showed their credentials through either a portfolio, sending photos of styled vignettes or uploaded a video showing their work or inspiration.
Entrants will be styling the room – not undertaking any work that requires a trade (painting, tiling etc.). They will have a set budget to style the room according to direction given by raize the roof such as colour schemes etc.
They will be supported and guided by Amy Hare - Amy is the Interior Design Manager at IKEA Canberra. Amy has worked as an Interior Designer for 10 years, joining IKEA 5 years ago. Amy works together with the Interior Design team at IKEA Canberra, creating functional and beautiful solutions to make a better everyday for the many.
About raize the roof
raize the roof is a charity founded by Canberrans passionate about improving the lives of children who are ‘less lucky’ than most. Powered by inspiration, innovation and dedication, the raize the roof team along with the Canberra community will assist local children who are suffering from illness and also children of the world who are orphaned due to disease or circumstance.
With the assistance of fundraising, donations and our amazing volunteers, the raize the roof team has built a house in Bonner. Once auctioned, half of the proceeds from the house will be donated to the Starlight Children Foundation to support seriously ill children in the ACT and surrounding NSW region. The other half of the proceeds will go towards supporting SOS Children’s Villages, Botswana to help improve the children villages and its family strengthening program.
Benefits for entrants
Given the challenge will be promoted across a range of different communication channels, covered in the media and streamed on social media, it is an exciting opportunity for small businesses and individuals to get involved and raise their profile.
